Economic Disparity & Class in Horror Movies
Class anxiety is one of horror's oldest engines. These 28 episodes follow it from Parasite and Knives Out to Society, a dark commentary on the upper class feeding on everyone else, and Carpenter's They Live!, which set out to make a point about classism. Capitalism is the villain in Sorry to Bother You, The Stuff, Slaxx and Deep Blue Sea. Corporate greed gets people killed in Alien, Aliens and Jason X, and RoboCop turns to gentrification and the militarization of the police.
